Highbury Media

Highbury Media is one of the largest independent magazine publishers in Southern Africa. They publish more than 30 magazine titles across three categories: sport, lifestyle and business. They have an established track record in creating world-class content for print and digital media, both for their own brands and those of their clients.

As the Digital Editor at Highbury Media, I was responsible for growing and monitoring the online presence of two The Foschini Group (TFG) magazine titles (Club and ClubX magazine), as well as managing a team of interns (all of whom have the desire to grow within their respective fields: graphic designing, social media management and content management).

Club, the immensely popular TFG lifestyle magazine, is packed with the latest women’s, men’s and kids fashion, beauty tips and trends, exclusive discount offers, and great advice on everything from lifestyle hacks to delicious recipes the whole family can enjoy.

ClubX is a monthly magazine geared at the millennials of SA between the ages of 18 and 25. The content and imagery is edgy, on-trend and speaks to these young adults in their language. Packed with a mix of interesting lifestyle topics, fashion, beauty, celeb stories and lifestyle topics as well as being loaded with great prizes and subscriber benefits, this is one mag that really does have it all.

Since joining the team in September 2016, my core focus was to increase brand awareness and magazine subscriptions across the below platforms:

Website: I was involved in two redesigns as per the client’s request.

Facebook: By incorporating a concise and detailed content strategy on a monthly basis, both Club and ClubX’s Facebook accounts grew significantly.

Instagram and Twitter: I had to redefine the brands’ online personality by introducing tactful methods of posting and reviewing all content scheduled for respective platforms.
